Lynn Latreille

Whether piecing together fabric or glass, Lynn finds there are as many similarities as there are differences in technique and design in both the textile and stained glass art forms.

A self-taught textile artist, Lynn learned her basic sewing skills at Sudbury Mining & Technical School in the early 196-‘s. A passion for fine fabrics, especially the rich tapestries, fine silks and brocades of Asia, has recently inspired the creation of haori style Japanese Kimonos. Richly appliquéd, these one-of-a-kind garments are functional as well as hang able art pieces.

Having been tutored and highly influenced by the genius of Sudbury glass artists Hayden Butler and Jack Dardick for over 20 years, Lynn has created many large stained glass installations.

Motivated by the refraction of light and brilliance of colour in hand blown and antique glass, her current pieces are small, intricately designed, and jewel-like in appearance. Many of these designs are also wearable.

A lifetime resident of Sudbury Lynn is delighted to be a working member of Artists on Elgin.
