Monday, September 20 to Friday, October 15
Opening Reception Saturday, September 25, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Artists on Elgin is thrilled to announce that artists Lorne and Donna Haddad will host their first exhibit in many years at Artists on Elgin from September 20 to October 15, 2010. The exhibit, called “Baskets and Brush Strokes”, will feature basketry by Donna alongside paintings by her husband Lorne.
Both Lorne and Donna have both had long and successful art careers. Donna began weaving in 1981, studying with top basket weavers in American and Europe before going on to teach weaving at various community colleges in Ontario. Her award-winning baskets have found loving homes across North America and Europe. Lorne’s career began in the early 1970s, and he was one of the founding members of the Sudbury Art Club. He currently works in watercolours, acrylics, coloured pencil and pastels, although he is also an experienced woodworker, having taken a decade off from painting to study the art of woodturning in the 1990s. His most recent works feature the beauty and timelessness of some of the couple’s favourite European vacation destinations.
This exhibit is a rare opportunity for the public to view work by the couple. Both artists are pretty well retired from their art, creating only a limited amount of one-of-a-kind pieces a year.
“Baskets and Brush Strokes” opens Monday, September 20 and will be on display until Friday, October 15. The artists will host an opening reception on Saturday, September 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
