Artist's Statement:

One might wonder why the word 'bones' was used in the title of this exhibition? You may ask, "Were actual bones found?" or, "What were they from?" and, "Why can I not see them in the paintings?" In actual fact, the 'bones' represent the very foundation of the landscapes, the parts that make up the whole which are often hidden from human eye. They can be the approaching storm, the winds we cannot see, the sounds of straining roots, or the silence thereafter that gives a certain peace and tranquility. They are all the parts that touch this artist's soul. These small paintings then, demand their size and to make them larger would be to loose that moment of discovery.
Enjoy!
Ivan T. Wheale
