The Northern Artist Gallery opened in Sudbury in April 2004. It has been managed since then by Muiriel MacLeod the inspirational force behind one of the most distinct and compelling art venues in Sudbury.

From its inception the gallery has continually focused on exhibitions of Northern Art. Although its interests have always ranged beyond the traditional understanding of an exhibiting institution, into innovative relationships with storefront access for patrons to purchase locally made artistic wares and projects such as the Picture Our Lakes Photography contest and Art about Town which bring aspects of artistic life into the public sphere.

Since 2004 The Northern Artist Gallery/Artists on Elgin has been located in Sudbury’s downtown core. The gallery represents emerging and established Northern artists.

The opening reception was held on the 4th of April 2009 at 1 p.m.

A Special thanks to all those who attended on that very snowy day.  Your patronage is greatly apprieciated and we are greatful you were able to share in this very special celebration.
