Artists on Elgin is proud to showcase the latest works by a celebrated Northern artist, Ivan Wheale, a gifted painter that can complete a painting in a matter of hours.'The exhibition will consist of recent oil paintings and miniature watercolours of the Mc Gregor Bay area and The Bay of Islands all completed within the last several months.'~ His paintings manifest a natural grace of the land with stunning realism.
Ivan Wheale is a confident painter who despite his preferred style is not tied to the rendition of his subject matter. Upon examination of his work it is evident that Wheale uses his creative license freely. “So many people seem to think that you have to paint exactly what is there before them as inspiration…”~ Ivan Wheale
Ivan’s new work gives us a glimpse into his experience of life on the Island, of his passion for nature and his fascination with the waters of Georgian Bay. Each element of his paintings is strategically placed to convey a sense of rooted tranquility. Ivan describes his painting process “like a second nature” ~ Wheale.
Some Words from Ivan:
“I have been asked many times in what category would my paintings fall into? My answer has always been “Whealism”, I am drawn to the simplest of things such as a blade of grass in snow to the majesty of my beloved Lake Huron and all it has to offer. Please come and be a part of my journey.”
